Official Opening!
Who: All the lovely test visitors of Jurassic Park and your very own host John Hammond!
When: July 21st in the morning hours after the first helicopters with guests arrive
Where: All over the safe area - check the subheaders for specific location options or make your own subheader if something you'd like is not yet included!
What: Getting settled! Hammond holds a welcome speech and you can get a tour through the Visitor Center. Once that is done, why don't you choose a room or check out the exhibits and café? A new world of wonders awaits and you're just getting started!
It's a beautiful but slightly nebulous day on Isla Nublar. You have arrived this morning and didn't get much of a chance to check out the place yet. Still, one thing is clear... Dinosaurs are a new one. That herd of brachiosaurs you spotted walking in the distance is pretty impressive.
This is a mingle-log that you can use to tag around with as many people as you want. Unless otherwise stated, it is assumed all comments here are fair game to reply to with all characters - they are all in close proximity to each other after all. If you have any specific preferences for your threads, state them in your subject line (e.g. if your thread is closed to a specific character or is set at a very specific time or if you don't want thread-jacking once a thread has started).
The log also gives a chance for characters to talk to John Hammond for a while - he might not be overly helpful, but go ahead and meet your host!

Hi! My name's Sam, Sam Nishimura, and I'm making an independent documentary about this first visit to Jurassic Park. [She usually doesn't bother saying she's an indie, but she doesn't want anyone to hold back because they think she's InGen.] Would you mind sharing some of your first impressions?
[Her finger's ready on the record button, but she won't press it until her new interview subjects are ready and willing.]

He's spoken on TV before, but it's always been on matters he was qualified to speak about, so he shakes his head as she approaches him. ]
I'm sorry, I don't have enough information yet to make a useful statement.

I'll still have to decline at this point. Even if it's just impressions, I'm not comfortable with my assumptions being recorded.

[And really, she's not going to write it all down once she leaves his sight, either; she's just going to keep it in mind for further down the track.]

Japanese-American is his guess, and again - the disproportionate population of people of Asian backgrounds makes him raise mental eyebrows as does the fact that she's referring to this excursion as a first. Externally at least, he seems pleasant about it. His response is in flawless English.]
I'd be happy to, Ms. Nishimura, but I'd prefer that the conversation was off-record. [He extends his right hand in greeting.] Light Yagami. It's a pleasure.

[She can appreciate that people don't necessarily want to open up to someone with a camera they just met, so she's hoping this is a rapport thing. Hell, considering that surname, maybe it's a language thing: She's met her share of ESL people who didn't want to speak English on record. Though this man's English is great, so that kind of worry's unwarranted.]

Even without the account of other guests, I'm sure that you must have a lot of material to work with already. Were you able to secure an interview with Mr. Hammond?

Do they know how strong a fully grown dinosaur is? How did they calculate the correct voltage that would dissuade a dinosaur from touching the electrical fence without causing it lethal harm? And perhaps most importantly, what do they intend on doing next with this technology?
It all seems somewhat suspect.
