Official Opening!
Who: All the lovely test visitors of Jurassic Park and your very own host John Hammond!
When: July 21st in the morning hours after the first helicopters with guests arrive
Where: All over the safe area - check the subheaders for specific location options or make your own subheader if something you'd like is not yet included!
What: Getting settled! Hammond holds a welcome speech and you can get a tour through the Visitor Center. Once that is done, why don't you choose a room or check out the exhibits and café? A new world of wonders awaits and you're just getting started!
It's a beautiful but slightly nebulous day on Isla Nublar. You have arrived this morning and didn't get much of a chance to check out the place yet. Still, one thing is clear... Dinosaurs are a new one. That herd of brachiosaurs you spotted walking in the distance is pretty impressive.
This is a mingle-log that you can use to tag around with as many people as you want. Unless otherwise stated, it is assumed all comments here are fair game to reply to with all characters - they are all in close proximity to each other after all. If you have any specific preferences for your threads, state them in your subject line (e.g. if your thread is closed to a specific character or is set at a very specific time or if you don't want thread-jacking once a thread has started).
The log also gives a chance for characters to talk to John Hammond for a while - he might not be overly helpful, but go ahead and meet your host!

Safari Lodge
w/Shiro - OTA
...but he's had his fill of socializing for the
yearday, so as soon as he and his sister figure out what room they've got, they're on their way up to the second floor. As soon as the elevator comes down. Sora is so not lugging this heavy luggage up two flights of stairs. That's what he gets for packing several video game systems.]no subject
Well, okay – 'tasting' may be a little extreme, but if she had the ability to vibrate in place while waiting for the elevator, she would be doing so. Her energy levels have depleted just as quickly. Instead, she waits patiently next to her brother, staring intensely (and somewhat tiredly) at the numbers lighting up in sequence to what floor the elevator was moving from.]

All right. Just a little longer, Shiro.
[Sora at least tries to offer his sister a smile, tugging the luggage along as he steps over to hold the door open for them both to slip inside.]

We've been assigned to room 201. All we have to do is set ourselves up and we should be good for the next three weeks.
[Yeah. They totally plan to stay in their room for the duration of this
tormentvacation.]no subject
[It's a little noise, but it also encapsulates her understanding and comprehension functions. They've been around each other forever, so it all makes sense.
As the elevator chimes and opens its doors again, Shiro toddles out ahead, pausing to wait for her brother and the luggage.]

Their room isn't hard to find, so it only takes a moment longer to get the door open so they can head inside, although not without a precursory glance down the hallway, mostly to spy if there are any vending machines within reasonable distance. It's only got one queen bed, but that's fine since they're used to sharing.]
Well, here we are...

With that, she heads straight for the bed, flopping on top of its quilted comforter.]

hope you don't mind prose; brackets are hell on mobile
Oh well, she could ride the elevator down and then back up again; she wanted to check the view from the roof. As the doors slid open, she was met with the faces of two young people, a boy and a girl. Stepping back to let them enter, she pushed the button for the third floor.
"Got that, champ?" she asked, watching the young man struggle a moment with what looked like a very heavy suitcase.
A-OK
"It's fine, thanks," he said almost offhandedly as he wheeled it in behind him. He tapped the button for the second floor before sighing tiredly.
"...you forget something?" he asked once he finally lifted his attention back towards the woman, seeing as how she'd only just come down...right?
Prooooose
Shiro shared the glance with Sora, training her eyes back onto Calhoun as she toddled ahead of her brother. As she did this, she backed into the corner farthest from the older woman.
sorry for the wait; internet issues
She wasn't here to bark orders, though, and she did like kids for the most part. She gave the girl a smile.
"I won't bite, short stack," she said, looping her thumbs through the belt loops of her jeans. She glanced back at the boy then, shaking her head. "Nope, just accidentally got on the car going down instead of up. I was gonna check out the view from the roof. I'm on the second floor, too."
She leaned out to see if anyone else was coming, then frowned a little and let the doors slide closed.
"You two here by your lonesomes?"
Weren't they a little young to be here without their parents? The boy only looked seventeen or eighteen ish, and the girl couldn't have even been thirteen.
No probs!
While he tried not to stare openly at her, it wasn't too difficult for him to figure that she must be some kind of military. Definitely the athletic sort at the very least. Who ran around calling people 'champ' anyway?
"Yeah. Our parents decided to generously pass off their invitations to us," he replied, obviously not very thrilled about said generosity or thoughtfulness on his parents' part.
\o\
She did detach herself from the corner eventually, stepping a little closer to Sora as she listened to their conversation, making faces at the appropriate times whenever he did.
